I have tried google search as well as other searches but to no avail - any friendly intelligent responses?

Its sounds to me like you've been bluejacked. What that means is you may have left your bluetooth switched on and somebody has sent you a virus via bluetooth. You can buy various mobile anti-virus software, whether it works on a samsung d900 is one thing. I do know that nokia uses software called f-secure which works on nokia smartphone. My advise is to switch off your bluetooth if you're out and about.
You may have to get your phone reflashed, ie a software/firmware upgrade. Go to samsung website.

you havent said which network you are with but i know with Orange they can sort it out for you just call from a different mobile or landline explain whats happening and they will fix it i would presume that the other networks will do the same but i am unsure sorry i cant help further

Don't use bluetooth once you have got it sorted. We have a phone doctor here. Have you got one where you live?
