I had a headace all day yesterday starting at around 2 pm. Then towards the the end of the day at around 8 pm i started to get an earache. It feels like its inside my ear and its making my throat hurt a little. I've tried ear drops and ibuprofen. Knocked the pain back a little, but not much. On a scale of 1-10 i'd say the pain reaches 9 at points. Its saturday, so i can't go to the doctor's office, should i go to the emergency room? What could be causing this? I've thought about ear wax build-up, but i clean my ears regularly, and i use the safety q-tips, the ones that are shaped to make sure they don't go to far into your ear. So, i'm pretty lost as to whats going on. Any ideas? On relief until monday, or causes?
Thanks.

You sound like you have an ear infection. Call a doctor ASAP, tell them you think you have an ear infection and they should be able to see you right away. You'll need antibiotics. Also, sweet oil helps soothe the inner ear.

For relief, try a warm (not too hot) compress on the side that hurts.

If you think it might be clogged, try a capful of peroxide in the ear, if it bubbles and gurgles let it stay for about a minute then rotate head to other side and let it drain. If you see wax, repeat once more, to much isnt good. You can do this once a week to prevent reoccuances.

You shouldn't use anything in your ear as it pushes the wax further in. Use a heat pad for the time being.

As the others said it could be an inner ear infection. If so please be careful of the drugs given. Some can damage the hair cells in the ear.
