Going to the gym won't do diddly squat if you don't eat healthy food... also you have to workout in the correct way or it really may not do much for you. When a person gets older they simply don't have the same metabolism and it can be hard to stay healthy... it takes alot of work in todays world. I just hope that I take better care of myself in the future than I do now, I am a teen and have a very good metabolism now... but before too long I'm ginna have more of a struggle.

First, some people don't have money for a gym, or for healthy food. Not everybody lives in a safe neighborhood where it's even possible to walk (not to mention desirable). More and more research is showing that there is more to obesity than what you do (or don't) eat. I suggest that until you know what you're talking about, you err on the side of caution (not to mention courtesy) and keep your mouth shut; otherwise, it is more than apparent exactly who is the "stupid" one in this matter.

You know it's not as easy as working out and eating less. For some people those changes can cause weight gain, I can't say in good conscious that laziness isn't a factor in most obiese people. But to ask a question (worded this way) and make it seem like you're sooooooooo smart because you have the answer to solving FAT people's problem, in all actuality you're childish and ignorant to think it's soo simple because it worked for you.

Actually, you don't have to go to the gym to exercise and lose weight. You don't even have to buy fancy equipment.
And some overweight ppl can't go to the gym because it wouldn't be healthy. Read the previous line again if you have to. I doubt it that you would be able to understand, but I'm not complaining. ;)

Mmmm...

It's a little more complicated than that. True, for most cases of obesity, overeating and sedentarity explains it all. But in a good 10% of these people, there is something (genetic) else at work.

Take it this way : if you can motivate these people to get to the gym and move by your example, then that's something. Sometimes all it takes is a little encouragement and support.

I don't really hear anyone 'complain' about being fat. Now I've heard people who are overweight criticize themselves. I've also heard overweight people complain about society and talk about how we want everyone to be anorexic and stuff.

As far as people saying, "they can't afford to go to a gym." That's another excuse all on it's own. There are a host of exercises you can do in your room. I work out in the gym, and at my house, and I have like zero equipment in my house. The money thing completely isn't true either, how do you see all those kids in the ghetto, that look completely ripped out of their minds? What about people in jails? You can't tell me you don't have the money or resources to be fit living in a free world, when people in jails, surrounded by 4 walls of concrete are buffed out of their minds.

Main reason being, it's easier to complain about the world around you and make up excuses and reasons why you can't exercise than it is to actually get out there, work through it, and pain yourself on becoming fit.

I can't blame them, once you see someone who is overweight, MOST of those people do not become fit. It's a complete change in lifestyle. As Socrates said, we are what we repeatedly do, and if exercising is not one of those things, it's hard to add that into your lifestyle.

Can you get someone motivated to make a change in their lifestyle, and exercise? Yes. I have. Can you get someone motivated like that 'everyday?' Probably not, that requires drive, which is a whole other psychological obstacle than motivation.

I've personally motivated people to go work out, eat healthy. But it's hard to keep doing that, and when everyone around you or in your family lives unhealthy, we've all experienced the pressure of going back to those old ways.

Anyone else who says you have to spend a lot of money on healthy food to be fit, I would like them to see a person I know who is made of pure muscle, was obsessed, I mean OBSESSED with McDonald's french fries, and could do things with his body most people can't dream of.

1) easier said than done

2) people want to have their cake and eat it to. (or in this case, eat it and not gain any weight from it.) they perceive this rule of biology to be an unfair impingement on their preferred lifestyle, thus the complaints.

3) why have you phrased this question in such an unpleasant manner? are you under the impression that you are perfect?
