After all we are being invaded, Bush could justify his actions and Mexico's citizens would benifit by a less corupt government, one that will help the people to have better lives for them selves so they won't have to come here and do our menial labor jobs.

That would be something. But I do not believe we should. It is their government; they need to figure it out. They need officials who aren’t corrupt, an money hungry.

Taking over their country would make the U.S. look even worse to the world.

If they, however, gave it up willingly it would be a different story. But doing a merger like this would be a major culture shock and I am not sure if we or the citizens of Mexico are prepared for that.

To langlais:

I do not see what you understand about the definition of “invasion” but you should look it up in the dictionary. If they have to walk into the country incognito, then they are invading. The word ‘invade’ has a negative connotation, don’t try to sugar coat it.
And by boosting the economy you mean that they drive down wages. YES the government saves money by not paying enough in income. How does that benefit the economy? Please explain.

With everything really costing an arm and a leg, people need to get paid more. And if CORRUPT AMERICAN EMPLOYERS continue to hire illegal immigrants who will accept below minimum, why would they want to lose money out of their pocket to pay citizens the rightful amount for their work?

What a great economy booster.

The country is an absolute dump, one of the worst countries I have ever seen. If you look at North America, USA is young nation with a good economy, Then you have Canada, young good economy, and then you have Mexico, what happened? They are the eyesore of North America, If you think our government is bad, dont move to Mexico you'll probably kill yourself. Iraq even had a better economy, even more literate people. Yet most Mexicans think mexico is so great, hanging their silly flag from their rear view mirrors in their 1986 ford pinto. No reason to ever take over that place, we given them more aid then any other country in the world, yet they still try to destroy the rich fabric of american culture. So enough is enough, constuct and wall, put troops on the border, institute a no tolerance policy of illegal immigration, that is shoot on sight of illegal crossing. If this were to happen the middle class would reemerge and America will continue to be the best country in the world. To bad we cant have a country like Canada to our south, instead we have.....

It would definitely be cheaper that sending them 40 billion a year to subsidize their crooked government and paying out another 70 billion to support the illegals on welfare and in prison. You know Spain gave it back to the Indians cause they know it was a mess, maybe the Native Americans would like Mexico back. What do ya say?

If we messed with their government I think we would just give them a new sense of entitlement to come here on top of the one they already got from who knows where.

Well, sometimes it is tempting to just annex Mexico, isn't it? After all, half of their population already lives here it seems.

If we send all of the Illegals back, they'll do it for themselves! Be At the Hold Their Feet To the Fire March next month. Make sure to send Luis Gutierrez lots of fan mail :-) for hi blanket amnesty policies!

We're not being invaded. We're experiencing large-scale immigration (some of it illegal). "Invasion" is a term that conservatives use to incite people against illegal immigrants, when in fact they boost the economy -- Texas would have been $18 billion poorer last year without illegals (http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/69970/Report_Illegal_Immigrants_18_billion_boost_to_Texas).

Well, our government cant be counted on doing something that makes sense.

If its to take over and fix Mexico's corruption, the Bush administration wouldnt change anything, they are just as bad.

Sounds like a good idea to me...if they can't figure out their own problems and correct them for them.
