I'm currently on XP. I have two drives and I'd like to reformat one of them and load Vista on both. Whats the best way to do it without losing my data.

I saved all the data onto my second drive. I plan to remove the second drive, format the first with Vista and plug in the second drive (which is still on XP) back. Would that work, is there a better way ? Thanks

first of all , you can't load a window in two drives. it is dual drives. you can, however, save all important files on less memory one, and install the vista in more memory one. after you install the vista, you can go to the less memory one, and get the infor back. i done it before, and it worked. or using some software that can back up all you comptuer files, which would takes alot of time and may cost money

It’s recommended to only install 1 OS on one Hard Drive. What you should do is back up your Data onto DVD’s or to an External Hard Drive.. First Backup your Data. Do a destructive recovery and Reinstall XP. After you have setup XP Get all the latest updates from Microsoft……. After that Insert the Vista Software and perform an UPGRADE. This will prevent Data loss (Updates) and you can transfer all of your current data that you have now when Vista has been successfully installed. (Disconnect all USB Devices While Upgrading to Vista)
