the muscles in your stomach are always moving to break up whatever you eat or drink. when your stomach is empty, the motion makes noises.

It's when your stomach is empty and needs food, but note thats not only why it may growl... It can also be the fact that you need exercise, and your eating to much fatning food; so eat healthy food and execise and growling problems should end.
