My daughter is almost 2 1/2. She knows all the letters, uppercase and lowercase, recognizes numbers up to 10 and knows all her colors.

It depends on the kid really and the parents.my daughter was 2 but my nephew was 5. i think that girls pick it up quicker.try working with them. books and Lil Einstein tapes work great as well.my fiance is a nanny and she agrees that it may take some time but they ll get it when they are ready.

Most can know all 11 colors on the preschool scale by age 4. Also able to count to 10 by 4. Recognizing letters is a 3-5 yr old skill needed for prereading. This is why preschool has become so important.
