Actually, when I hear the name Clara I think of the little girl in the Nutcracker ballet because I believe that was her name. So, to me, the name is kind of magical.

The only similar name I can think of offhand is Ciara, which I personally like better than Clara. Clara is an "old fashioned" name, not an old womans name. But older names are making a comeback!! And hey, if Julia Roberts can name her kids Phinneus and Hazel you should be able to name yours Clara with a clear concinece.

Clara is a pretty name. When I was pregnant with my little girl I really liked the name Dorothy, and everyone was really put off, I ended up calling her Jessica which suits her down to the ground.
When I think of Clara I get this image of a happy go lucky person who is friendly and fun to be around - I had a friend at school called Clara....
What is the baby's last name to be, what do they sound like together ?
My sister had a little girl and she wanted to call her Louise, but it didn't sound right with the surname of James, so she
called her Chloe-Lou James. I think it sounds pretty.
Being Cornish I really like Kara, which is a direct translation for Love.
Best of luck with naming your little one...

My Aunt Clara is the coolest lady. She's my mom's favorite sister. So, to me the name "Clara" means a straight shooter, very frank, tomboy, loves to laugh and likes to pick on people (in a fun way). Clara is a cute name for a little girl.

It's not a very modern name. The only Clara is know is the owner of a Dominican hair salon in Harlem. What about Clarissa?

This Clara replaced right into a shy, vibrant, obedient new child. She grew to grow to be an staggering 1st grade instructor. Now at the instant Clara is a stay at domicile mom to 3 childrens and loving each and every minute of it. by way of ways, considered one of my former scholars named his canine Clara( in accordance to his mom - in honor of me). not sure if I must be flattered or not! notice of advice, after gaining understanding of the not undemanding way with my first new child, my husband and that i did not tell every physique achieveable names previously. kinfolk can not criticize the call as quickly because it rather is been given. we would have loved to call our first new child Katia, yet anybody raised their eyebrows. We ended up naming her Katerina, yet nevertheless call her Katia. As a new child, I constantly had to be a Sarah instead.

I think it's a neat name. I knew a little girl a few years back named Clara and she was a bright sunny little girl, sweet. That's what the name brings to my mind.

Clara: bright, cute, funny
It's a nice name, but reminds me of the cartoon cow Clarabell.
As for similar names, the Hawaiian version would be Kalea. Unique and beautiful (also means illustrious)!

with clara, i think of clorissa, cara, and crystal. When I hear a name clara, I think of the parents since they are the ones that pick the name. I think of the parents wanting to be different or indivisuals and wanting there kid to be the same. I think of a girl who thinks for herself and has a mind of her own and is proper and wont give in to peer-preasure.

My cousins are named Carla and Claire after our grandmother Clara. I also like the Clare that someone else suggested. They are all great choices.
