Ahaaaa..someone else listens to public radio. They had a program on just a few nights ago where gay/lesbian individuals were touting the fact that Canada allows gay marriage so they claim the US is behind the times etc. In answer to your specific question however....Yes, they probably would have because they succomb to the pressure of society in Canada more than the government in the US does. Sometimes bad, sometimes good. Last night, they had a program on that told the story of how the people who run the elections there (coming up on Monday) changed one of their policies because they got a lot of e mails from the citizenry opposing the rule. I may not always agree with what my US government does, but save me from the day (if ever) it comes to the point where our leaders succumb to the squeaky wheels.

Well I could be insulted since I am a canadian. I am not because I tend to agree that Canadian politicians go way overboard on POLITICAL CORRECTNESS. Case in point.........there is a story in the news about a Muslim woman who wants to wear a hijab to work as a prison guard. Never mind the whole religious aspects of it, are you kidding me........its a jail full of the scum of the earth racists who would love to strangle you with your hijab..............where is the debate.........there shouldn't be any. It is not a question of religion its a question of safety and Canadians always bend to political correctness GOD forbide we actually say NOOOOOOOOO. We all big old fat rascists if we do..........my religion says I should walk around naked.......I guess I can work as a prison guard in the nude and hope I don't get raped............omg get real people. Just cause you don not agree does not make you racist............canadians are big woosiesssssss.

You never know what the Canadian Government might do, they just changed the definition of Marriage a few years ago. Rather arrogant of them if you ask me, since the poll showed that the Majority of Canadians wanted the Government to leave it as God set it. This is a good example of Democracy running amok. It should be called - De-mockery.
