Besides the things that the troops are trained to look for is not something you have any need to know.

Sometimes a terrorist has a mustache and sometimes he doesn't...Then again, sometimes he is tall and sometimes he is not tall...Then again, sometimes a terrorist is a woman, and sometimes it is a man...Then again....
The matter of looking for insurgents and terrorists is not as easy as identifying them wearing a uniform. It is a very difficult task to separate the good guys from the bad guys.
The problem with terrorists and terrorism is that we need to be right 100% of the time and they only have to be right, once!

They look like regular people, any race any age. For all you know you may have met one or two. The terrorists in Iraq may even be working with the troops. I know because it happened to my unit. We got intel saying where a bomb maker lived and what he looked like, well they didnt tell us he was an iraqi policeman we had done patrols with!

Unfortunately, they are hard to spot. They look like the guy, or girl next door. These are not crazy, psychopathic killers. They are everyday people who's beliefs and frustrations have lead them to the conclusion that they are in a war. Unable to tackle the huge military-industrial complex of the West, they create a war of attrition against the people. And this is not without precedence. The Western Allies bombed civilians and industries indiscriminately during World War II in order to break the will of the people. So, their terrorism, even though we see it as murder, makes a perverse, logical sense. The lesson we should glean from this is that IT COULD HAPPEN HERE...

well melinie they can look like anyone really ive been over there and you never know who to trust they could be a little kid or an old man even a woman or little girl. they can be white or black, latino or middle eastern
