dress your girl according to there age, dont go to these stores that only sell mini skirts ,tanks ...its not appropiate for a young girl to dress like that at young age.

from my own experience i got to lil cousins who use to dress sexy since they were 4 years old and it didnt end up too good. dress girls all covered up but yet modern you know... you can have them all dolled up without showing so much skin.

I loved Limited Too and Aeropostale when I was in elementary and middle school. I have been wearing Abercrombie in bulk because it is super soft and long-lasting if you take care of everything properly. Anyway, each of these store have great and fashionable clothes, but if you wear them the wrong way...things are going to go wrong. ie. You can wear a mini skirt....with leggings underneath. You can wear a low-cut sweater...with a t-shirt underneath. You can wear a tank with a sweatshirt over it. You can wear fashionable jeans that aren't ultra low-cut. Don't ever let your kids leave the house in anything you think is unacceptable because as they grow older they will wish they had never dressed that way. They have to remember that people in their schools/ neighborhood are recycled as they go from one level of school to another. If they dress inappropriately, that's what they are going to be remembered for. I know this is in the long run, but you can tell your twelve year old (who I'm sure has at least had a crush by now) that when she gets older, the boys are going to open their eyes and look for the modest, classy girls like her, not the ones hanging out of their blouses.

I'll be the first one to admit I have no fashion... but what's the problem with tank tops? My daughter wears jeans, and in the summer she wears tank tops, and will never wear the hoochie crap like they sell at the stores you named as long as I'm footing the bill. I think even a mini skirt with leggings underneath is still a mini skirt. That's just my opinion.

But tank tops? what's bad about a tank top? What am I missing?

Whats wrong with jeans and tank tops? My daughter is six and most of the girls in her class wear jeans. My daughter will wear tank tops, but her skirts and shorts have to be a certain length. We do the "fingertips with arms down at side" test before we buy these things. I really don't see a problem with jeans and tank tops though??

When they are teens they should be able to wear the skirts and what not. I will have my little girl in jeans and tank tops and shirts that are cute but not revealing as soon as she is big enough. Modesty does not mean not trendy. That is key, not to make them look, well, trashy. Just use your common sense, if you think they look trashy then don't buy them those clothes.

Little Girls? Never. If you can still refer to them as little girls then its too soon.
Teenagers and Adolescents? Well unfortunately children are starting to act older and older at younger ages nowadays. Whereas year 5s used to carry lunchboxes and big rucksacks, and used to be seperated into girls and boys friendship groups; they now have handbags and are already dating.
Whilst you don't want them to grow up too fast, and you should try and restrict them from teenage behaviour at too young an age, it is important they are not seperated from peers and feel treated differently. It is more likely that they will rebel and go down the wrong path.
I would say when they get into secondary school they are old enough to start feeling more grown up, but try and make it a gradual change from little girl to adolescent.

if you feel they are inappropriate then that should be the final say. if you let them wear "adult looking" clothes then please set guideline and rules that must be followed. a good rule could be that if is too older looking then they have to be with you when wearing it. if they break any of the rules then hey lose the privilege of wearing the clothes.

my daughter wears some "mini's" but we make sure she has a pair of spandex shorts underneath. they are also not too shorts as to show things when she bends over (she is a child and doesn't know better). she also wears some cropped tops at home in our supervision, never to school or daycare and the shirts never revel what they shouldn't.

please use common sense when it comes to what your children wear and what they do. good luck and i hope this helps

NO, and I cant stand it when they do. My neighbor girl is probably 9, and looks 15. I cant tell you how many 10 year olds butts ive seen because they are still kids and dont understand that when you wear a mini, you cant bend over and play. Uhg, its trashy and looks terrible. Children shouldnt be a sex object, which is what those clothes would do to any grown women, and child.

I think girls are putting themselves at risk by some of the things they are wearing at so young. You have 3 girls at 3 different ages and just because you allow your oldest to wear something doesn't mean that is is going to be appropriate for your other 2. You are the parent and only you know what you think is acceptable for your daughters. Just don't feel pressured to let them look like little women. They will be there soon enough. Good luck! :)

Please wait until they are in they are at least 14. Jeans are ok, but mini skirts, tank tops, tube tops ect are just terrible. It's just creepy to see little girls dressed in teenage and even older aged clothing!
