Statistically, about 1% of people have schizophrenia (not just in U.S., but in all industrialized nations).

So that would work out to be about 2.5 million people in the U.S.

It's hard to say as many, if not most have been misdiagnosed.
Psychiatry is NOT a science. Although psychiatrists will tell you that it is.
