If you want a controversial topic, you can talk about any topic that is overlooked and misrepresented by the mass media:
"Peak Oil" or
"911 Truth"
The topic of why mass media does not cover controversial topics is too huge for a quick talk. The best you can probably do in a few minutes is to talk about a large number of people, families of victims, and celebrities who now believe that 9/11 was an inside job. I heard that Rosie now has spoken out about 9/11 being an inside job.
Good luck on your oral presentation. Either of these is likely to generate a lot of questions.
