We just did this for a family at our school. The principal and student council worked with the family via fundraisers. Some were specific to the cause and others gave anywhere from 10% to 50% of what was raised.
Some of the more successful ones? Pizza night (working with a local pizza place and they donate a percentage of what was earned that evening) and restaurant nights. These are great since people have to eat any way and you can get the word out to family, friends, co-workers, etc.
Is there some way you could get the media involved? Maybe work with a reporter to do a human interest or informative story about the quadraplegic and the difficulties they face getting the help they need???
Best of luck!

contact your local charity organizations like knights of colombus or the lions club, stuff like that. they often help those who can't afford to pay for items that would help them get around. try also having a fundraiser dinner at a veterans hall like the american legion or the fraternal order of eagles. usually its spaghetti where i live. hope this helps.
