If the colour RED were not used in the red "stop" sign. What other colour would you use it and WHY?
Choices: blue, yellow, green, orange, pink, purple, black, white, gray, brown...others

My first thought was black, as other posts, because it is a warning sign, but after thinking for a minute, the color that would stand out most, and catch the drivers attention, would definitely be the yellow.

Blue, since it can be seen at night, and, unlike yellow or green, is not used in traffic-control devices.
Black is bad at night, white is used as a speed limit sign (and is easily vandalized), brown blends into other colors (like trees) and pink or purple are just wrong.

I would want it to be orange because that is a very bright color that sticks out and you would see it more b/c red just is everywhere when you drive. I mean you have the red cars, red houses, red fences, red leaves on trees. Just little stuff like that is all red. So orange would stick out more.

Probably blue or black or something striking to catch your attention. Red is used as it is bold and eye catchig and associated with the colour of danger!

I would say white.
There are a lot of trees, and red stands out among the green leaves. White, while not as noticable as red, comes in second on visibility.

Yellow because its bright and would be noticed, which is probably the reasoning behind red.

orange, because its the most eye catching colour, but red is best because its what people are used to.
