I completely agree with you.
Atheists complain that we are pushing our beliefs on them, but I think it's the other way around. Atheism is being shoved down our throats, on Yahoo! Answers, as well as in government.
And I always wonder...if Atheists TRULY do not believe in God, why does it irritate them so much that we do? Wouldn't you think they would just be indifferent?

Because Evolutionist and Atheist alike feel the need to lash out at anything that goes against their belief systems. They are obviously not intelligent enough to realize that a person can believe in God and still have questions. Any intelligent person would know that they do not have all the answers and should ask question and get other peoples opinions based on your question, instead of getting lashed out at by some egomanical, uniformatarianist who are so full of their own self righteousness that they are close minded to any other belief system.

Yes, people ARE afraid of the truth.
Light and truth go hand-in-hand:
John 3:19 -- "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.... 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."
And these mockers will not go away, no matter how much sense and reason and courtesy you have and make.
2 Peter 3:3 -- "knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts,"
Jude 1:18 -- "how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts."
Romans 8:7 -- Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.

Yes, people are afraid of the truth. For example, you are afraid of the truth also, which is evident in your rant. If you weren't afraid that you were wrong, then you wouldn't care about other people's opinions. After all, it's their right to respond with their beliefs, and you don't really have a legitimate reason to complain. Every person is entitled to one response.
You are also afraid of another truth. Perhaps your thoughts are sometimes "evil." Most people would agree that what you are requesting from people is self censureship, if they don't believe the same as you do.
That's "evil."
What if everyone else knew it?

Chris

I see that happen a lot when someone asks a very serious question - such as doubting faith, God or even contemplating suicide.
It's pretty disgusting really. People like that take everything as a joke and feel that because they don't beleive in God they need to help another person get past all the religion 'nonsense'.

Of course people are afraid of the truth, especially if it contradicts what they have believed for the majority of their lives. Just try to show someone a scripture that disputes the immortality of the soul or the "holy trinity" and watch what great lengths they go to in order to prove you wrong or try to make you look/feel stupid. It's not their fault, they're just a little set in their ways.

People are scared of what is true
they are scared of doing the right thing.
I mean seriously, isn't it always easier to gossip and do something bad
than to give charity and do something good.
People (i am not saying all people, but allot of people) just back away from the truth because the truth is the right thing to do.
God Bless

Because any question about matters of faith are nonsense. It's like discussing Lord Of The Rings as if it was real. Why waste time asking questions about something that's not real? Consider the "god isn't real" a gentle reminder that you're wasting your life on nonsense.
