Well the Black Death was caused by Yersinia pestis which is a bacterium, and therefore it reproduces in the way bacteria do ie binary fission. The bacteria multiplies inside fleas, which in turn live in rats. As there were so many rats during the Black Death, this helped the spread of the disease. The flea bites the human who then becomes infected. Human to human tranmission is through bacteria carried in droplets which are coughed up and inhaled by another person

It depends on the plague. The Black plague was caused by a bacteria which reproduce by deviding themself and was carried by rats however the infuenze plauge of 1918 was caused by a virus which reproduces by using our cells to produce more.

a mutated virus/bacteria of some sort. It multiplied by multiplying like normal germs, but was carried along by rats(it died quickly in air)
