Are you sure you WANT to be a film director? Dreaming about it is different than being one. Are you willing to work 16 hours a day, and be in constant fear whether you're work is going well, or where your next job is going to come from? If you still want to try, first live in a city where there is a lot of film work, get a job with a production company, and live and breathe films constantly, and figure out a way of getting your bills paid.
