For fresh shrimp that are not deveined and still have shell on:

1.) Get steak knife
2.) Straighten shrimp
3.) Turn the back of the knife towards the shrimp. This will ensure you only cut the shrimp with the point of the knife.
4.) Make a small cut along the body of the shrimp (the side where the legs are).
5.) Once cut, remove shell. Cut should have been deep enough so that you can grab the vein of the shrimp - which will look like a dark piece of string running from the top to the bottom of the shrimp. Remove vein.
6.) Once you've finished cleaning all of the shrimp, you can boil the shrimp, grill the shrimp, sautee the shrimp, etc. Just remember that shrimp only take a few minutes to cook. Once they turn bright red, they are done. You might want to season them before you cook them, but you can almost anything - herbs, garlic, lemon, etc.
7.) You can also eat them chilled or hot.
8.) Enjoy!

First off you have to decide how you would like them cooked. Some people depending on where you live Steam , cook, grill, and boil. i prefer to steam.

search in Yahoo for McCormicks Seasoning for OLD BAY Seasoning. Thats the real deal. The site has recipes too. Just steam em. Something like Two Teaspoons Old Bay, a cup of water, a cup of Vinagar per pound. For best results do a pound at a time.

This is easy. First, rip off the legs. Then take the shell off. You can leave the tail on or rip it off too. If you want them deveined, then just run a knife down its back and under cold running water, pluck the vein out.

Trust me, I've done this to so many cases of shrimp in my life.

Are they fresh or partially prepared? Frozen? Raw? Cooked? Depending on how they are now....there are different means of cleaning and prep work.

What does one look like now? Does it have the shell on and if so, is there a slice in the shell back?

Hi I have been par boiling mine, to me its seems easier to get the shell off, then you have to get that nasty vein out along its back. I start at the large end and scrape my finger down the back right to the tail, If you find an easier way please let me know as we eat lots of shrimp.
