Yes Icarus.
Unfortunately some groups use population as a power ploy.
Others as labour.
Still others as a statement of faith.
I come from a small family. I have three children, my ex had six.
His lineage suffered the scourge of genocide. Me, I have a high IQ and was an only child whose aunts and uncles never had children.
So as far as I am concerned we were on the right track! Besides I love my family!
However, this planet is suffering horribly. If everyone were to
flee from the cities and try to live off the land it would all collapse before our eyes. At the moment it has turned a corner.
Mother earth is going to throw up. Her stomach is churning right now. Her energy is weakening. Praise Guiya!!!!Pray for her!
Anyway...yes there are enough people on this planet.
Promotion and protection of the rights of women and raising the income and quality of life of the majority of individuals on this planet would take care of that humanely.
Peace Icarus! Peace everyone!
One Love and JP...there must be areas unpopulated by humans...the planet needs that...the ecosystems need that...therefore we need that....
I also live in Canada. Right now we have to have imegration just to maintain our population. However, the idea that we need to increase ur population beyond its oresent levels come from a unlimited idea of growth..i'ts economics...poor economices.
I believe in sustainable green economics. Quality not quantity. Canada's environment is suffering a lot of strain right now.
WWestern Canadas forests are threatened, BC Salmon rivers are not getting sufficient Salmon returning to spawn, there are towns like Fort MAc Murray that have become industry towns.
People are suffering high rates of unusual cancers and other health problems because government health bodies are not willing to confront the sources. (CBC radio this week, named all the towns and so on)
Space is important. Conjestion is not healthy. Carpeting the planet with human beings is a big mistake. Look at what it takes to feed us! Look at what our fishing practices are doing to the balance of the oceans ecology. It's very serious but out of sight out of mind!
Yes vegetarianism would help but it is a bandaid solution to which not everyone will comply for their personal health reasons ( Ihave been a vegetarian and it can be very healthy that isn't what I am getting at) , cultural and spiritual reasons.
The planet needs wild spaces to have a healthy life. The planet knows best what it needs to be healthy that is why it is about to trash us!

True. I would argue that it may even be unethical to have more than 2 children, because by contributing to increased population, you are part of the problem - and the problem is that there will be a lack of resources for everyone if this overpopulation problem is not fixed. And sure, there are unpopulated lands, but it would be nice to keep them that way, so that we can leave SOME room for animals, and so that we do not urbanize the whole planet, making it less nice and livable for our children's children.
The other issue with having more than 1 or 2 children, is that there are so many orphan children already. Is it really ethical to have your own children, when there is a child in need of loving parents who doesn't have any? I think it is best to adopt before having your own children.

No, we don't and all those people that said we do need to go back to school. If you didn't know we have enough food for everyone on the world but the only problem is getting the food there (money). And we have more than enough land for people. The thing is that people like to live on the "popular" places causing an overpopulation on that spot. Anyways we could have an ice age any time now causing many people to die. Scientists have found that there's been 7 already. And people are very ignorant for blaming other countries and races.

Ecologically, the planet could support in excess of 12 billion people, without significant impact on the environment, if our governments stopped hoarding food, proper environmental protections were in place, and infrastructure was developed to properly distrubute all the available resources.
However.
Our governments do hoarde food and subsidize food destruction, proper environmental protections are not in place, and the infrastructure in 90% of the planet is substandard or (mostly) nonexistent.
So it's both true and false, depending on your perspective.

Only God has the authority to make that decision, but FALSE. This planet can support the people living on it right now along with the billions that have died in the past if they were to be resurrected.

They way people talk, you would think they are still trying to repopulate after the "Flood".
I think we have enough people on this planet, yes. Does this mean I'm in favor of international ZPG? No, it's not enforceable.

False. We already have too many. There has to be a balance with what numbers are sustainable given limited resources.
