I'd say that if you think it is a virus attack and your anti-virus program isn't working, shut the computer off. The longer you wait, the more it spreads. Here is what I'd do if my data was really important:

1. Shut the computer off.
2. Take the hard drive out and connect it to another computer as a slave (or secondary drive).
3. Run the anti-virus utility, anti-spyware program and anti-adware.
4. Backup all the things from the drive to a DVD or another harddrive.
5. COnnect the harddrive back to the original computer. See if it works. If it doesn't, format -- you've got your data on the dvd or another harddrive

You have downloaded a virus - it has been running for some time now if it has disabled your virus protection and wont restart in safe mode then the best option is to bite the bullet and rebuild and start over before your hard drive suffers damage high enough to ruin it ......you may already be there.
limewire has the latest virus and trojans on the net - not safe at any speed.
If this is on a company resource you may lose your job also.

With what you posted, it sounds to me that you may of downloaded a virus that was connected with the video clips that you downloaded.

If you can, try connecting to the internet with your computer, and check out norton.com and run a virus scan from there.

If you have your anti virus cd near by, try scanning your pc with it.

But with the serverity of which this virus has infected your computer, it would be best to re-format your hard drive and reinstall your OS.

You definitely to reboot the machine. Whenever you encounter a problem in window, REBOOT is the first thing you do. It is better to transfer the video clip from flas drive to hard drive, because it takes longer to go to external drive and come back...
