Sometimes, yes I do.... I only do so on my way to work and at 4:00am, and the light I do this at (the only one I do) there is NO ONE around, nor a camera. I DO come to a complete stop, and usually by the time I start into the intersection, the light has changed to green in my direction because of the traffic sensor in the road.

I've read a lot of ordinances in my day, and I haven't yet seen one that reads "You must come to a complete stop at a red light, but if there isn't any traffic, go ahead through it, turn left or go straight if you feel like it."
In most places it's "Failure to obey a traffic control device" and it's a moving violation which will add points and could raise your insurance premium. So, if it's worth the price, sure, go ahead.

I don't respect many traffic laws, especially speed limit, but I never ever intentionally run red light. There was a couple of cases in my whole life when I did this unintentionally, and that's it.
I don't think reward justifies the risk in this case.

When I was a kid learning to drive my dad and I were on a mountain road, it was paved and you could see both ways for miles--I went thru the stop sign. He told me to pull to the side of the road. Then he told me to get out of the car and he whacked my **** but good and said don't ever do it again--it doesn't matter where you are that sign is there for a reason, obey it!! Funny, I'm a Sr. citizen now and have not run one stop sign again.

And when you idiots do that and you kill somebody, then you will be oh so sorry, but it's to late then. The stoplight doesn't mean go through when you want too!
Emergency Vehicles approaching that light are anticipating people remaining stopped, yes, even on Sundays and then people do dumb things like that!

No. Cops will pull you over for that. If you don't mind a ticket every once in awhile and points on your license, then go for it. Is it really worth getting there .3 seconds earlier than if you waited? Sure, why not.

No way, besides, my sons are both police officers. What would they think if they knew I got caught for doing that?
