Another reason why in a hundred years Christians will disown the Old Testament, just like they try to disown their Jewish heritage.

Of course the OT is part of the Christian bible. If it wasn't, Christians wouldn't have all their proof texts for their own faith.
Blunt I know - but true.
Christians have a view of the law that entails it being a system to show one's sins. But that is the limit of it - they do not feel that they actually need to follow the law.
Which is why such things as slavery are often overlooked - or just said to be part of the OT and not really relevant anymore.
But the entire basis of their faith is in the OT. Without the OT there is no Christianity. Period.
Some just like to pick and choose what is convinent and then toss the rest out.

The bible is not a moral guidebook. It is a series of books, some a historical reference, some Laws, Poetry, advice, etc...Exodus is a historical event, read it and you will see what God did to the Egyptians when they refused to free the slaves. your not reading the bible the way it was meant to be read. you sound like me when I was 9 years old "Hell is written in the bible so I can use the word Hell whenever I want, cause its in the bible, so I can tell my mom to go to hell, cause Hell is in the bible" Imagine my excitement when I saw the word Damn in the bible. So yes slavery is in the bible, Its a major event in Jewish history. But that does not mean God approved of it.

First off, God didn't write the bible, there are many authors that contributed books to create the Holy Bible. The old testament is part of the bible, but Christians tend to lean more on the new testament for answers. Bottom line is this, If you accept Jesus Christ as your savior and believe he paid the penalty for our sins by dying on the cross and rising up from the dead, you will make into heaven. We all sin, God understands this and has given his son to take our place. Try to live and walk with him as your guide, you will be fine.

Need to remember the Bible isn't a book its and abridgment of many books or i like to call journals of past prophets and scribes that covers thousands of years. Each book in the Bible is its own book sometimes not in the chronological time frame it was written. The Bible was put together and the books in the bible were translated by men. Men are not perfect. That's why God has Prophets on the earth to to be his mouth piece. At the end of the book of Revelations it says not add anything to the end of THAT book the book of Revelations. Its not talking about the Bible.

The creation of the Bible by Emporor Constitine so he could rule better is the only justificstion for such garbage. It also condems the life style of the emporor which is rather funny because he knew it was just a collection of fables, not Gods final words. That people still imagine it as more are ripe for all kinds of foolery including calling sny person in their time, an anti-christ.

The Bible was a major justification used by slave-owners pre civil war in the South. But it is so easy to "reinterpret" that less than 200 years later fundies will tell you there is no slavery in the Bible.
Forget about actually reading it.

Yes it is, slavery is in the Bible. If you were to look at exodus you would find how much love God has for His people, who were slaves and He freed.
While you are busy try to judge God you should try really understanding what the Lord is saying.

You should first gain an insight that the OT is the history of Israel that led up to Jesus. Jesus died to save us from having to REPEAT the mistakes of the law of the OT.
Those who self righteously quote the OT to say this is in the Bible, don't read the verses in context, and do not gain the lessons from the OT that we have retained them in order to AVOID.

Yes it is the truth, and what was written DID happen- and it is all for the glory of God, for what He does is JUST and Right, even though you do not understand, it is because you continue to bring God down to man's level....God's ways are higher and above our ways.
Slavery is no more (well here in the USA that is) We are under a New Covenant with Jesus Christ--We are under HIS GRACE we who are saved know that we are not bound by the law, but we are now under the grace of Jesus Christ- God tells us to love one another, and to love our enemies- to share His wonderful word! But what God does, is right---and we are not to question Him, for He made us! And He has shown of His great love through the cross---His ways bring "light" to the eyes- the truth is understood once you receive Him.
Psalm 19:8
The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
-Amen!
