I walking the Relay for Life, and have raised approximately $555 of $1000. I have asked all my friends (college friends who are unlikely to give up $10) This is an amazing cause and I'm walking because I want to help bring awareness to American Cancer Society and what it does for patients and families.

I also am honoring those who are surviving/survived cancer and those who have lost their lives. Even if you don't have an answer please feel free to post their name or email them to me.

I need all the ideas/help you can give!

Have you thought of doing a fund raising dinner? Cook dinner for your parents and friends of theirs and have them donate a certain amount per plate. I know it can be tough financially in college so I would focus on people not in school. If you are on campus, maybe you can have a local restaurant do a fund raising evening for you. Have them agree to donate a certain amount of the proceeds from an evening when you have friends, family, and faculty visit the restaurant in support of your fund raising efforts. You could also have you and a couple of friends hand out cancer support pins to people in exchage for a donation. A local supermarket with a higher income clientele might let you set up a stand out in front of their store to do this. I did the breast cancer 3-day and it was a minimum donation collection of $2,000 to participate. I had a lot of very supportive people agree to donate. It was a tough event, but the cause was worth it.
