I have dealt with this problem for years. It effects me when I'm alone, at work, hobbies, with company, in public, everywhere. I fear that I will loose everything : girls, jobs, friends, family and bad things will happen if I think of these horrible thoughts. I pray and swear words, sexual, violent and evil (like the devil's name) flood through my mind, sometimes it's like I'm searing at God, Jesus, Mary and other Holy people. I WOULD NEVER WANT TO SAY OR THINK THAT! People are noticing me real depressed and even talking to myself because I'm trying to repent and beg for Forgivness. The same thing happens when I just daydream or wish for things. I fear of loosing everything if I think them. I know this is irrational, but I can't stop thinking/fearing them! I don't want anything bad to happen to someone or something OR lose out with someone or something because I keep thinking sinful thoughts. I want to be the best Christian I can be. Is this OCD? PLEASE HELP?

Slow down.

Got it? Slow down. You may be upset, but letting yourself get a bit carried away is not going to help you.

I would recommend getting out a piece of paper and a pen. Make two lines along the length, or width, of the paper so that they paper is divided into three columns. At the top of the first column, write the words, "What was happening?" At the top of the second write, "What did I think or do?" At the top of the third, write down, "How did this influence the people or world around me?"

When you have these episodes, fill out the appropriate information for each column. Be sure to be specific.

If your actions or behavior are not having an influence, then you shouldn't have much to worry about. Explore the causes (in the first column) and look for common themes. Try avoid the situations to lower your anxiety.

If you notice that the situation is changed by your actions (third column), you might start looking for new, constructive ways to change the outcomes in your life.

If your actions are being affected, or if your anxiety continues to skyrocket, or if you cannot find new ways to achieve the outcomes you desire, then it wouldn't hurt to seek out a counselor. Be sure to take your chart with you, as it provides specific documentation of what's going on.

I don't know what religion you are but it sounds like you need the laying on of hands. Do you believe in the priesthood? Is there someone you can have give you a blessing? Like your Bishop or Pastor? I would ask for a blessing if I were you. Everyone has weird thoughts..when it happens to me I sing "I am a child of God"... aloud if I am alone and in my head if I am with someone. You're problem sounds excessive like you are being hounded by these thoughts, like they are consuming you. Pray to God to take this away from you! I will pray for you also!

sounds to me like you need to go see your doctor and tell them everything you just wrote. i have been dealing with depression for years now and it is not fun. if you don't get this under control it will control you. please do yourself and everyone who loves you a favor and go see a doctor. any doctor will point you in the right direction.you are not alone in this matter. there are many people out there dealing with the same thing. keep your chin up and take care of you. there is only one you! may god hold you in the palm of his hand and help you through this.

Good thoughts, or Bad thoughts, it's just a traveller across your mind. If you exercise your *will* and do not dwell on negative thoughts, they will go away.

Next time when an undesirable thought come across your mind, simply REPLACE it with a prayer or a mantra.

Choose a prayer that makes you feel good and loving.

LOVE is the alchemy.

Stop fearing it. Everyone does it, it's just that most people don't get hung up on it. Why do you think there are so many damned "Think Positive" books in print?
