The diameter of a circle means the longest distance possible from a point to another point in a circle.
In dictionary, it is:
"A straight line segment passing through the center of a figure, especially of a circle or sphere, and terminating at the periphery."
The diameter if a circle is used to calculate many things, like the area of the circle --> pi x (d/2)^2 or the circumference of a circle --> pi x d

diameter is the line that goes hrough a circle from one end to the other...
radius of a circle is a line from one end to the center of the circle...
circumference of a circle is:
Diameter x Pi (3.14)
oh, and radius is 1/2 of the diameter...
EX.
the radius of a circle is 4 ft. What is the circumference?
it would be radius (4ft) x 2 x 3.14 (pi): C= 25.12...
hee hee hope this helps~

if you want a specific number, it would depend on how big the circle is.
The diameter is the measurement of the line that dissects the circle in 2 equal parts.
Pi = 3.141592653589793238462643383279502.............
so it would only be Pi if your line across the middle just happened to be that measurement.
360 degrees is the the measurement of the angles within the circle

The correct way to find the diameter of any circle is to fold it in half, fold it in half again, got a hole in the corner, insert a pickled cucumber and sing the ditty 'She was only a fireman's daughter but she likes playing with your hose' to the tune of Knees up Mother Brown.
