I wanna know why everyone thinks that illegals don't pay taxes and lives off the government??? I'm an American, born and raised. My boyfriend of 7 years is an illegal Mexican. He, and every other illegal I know, get taxes taken out of their checks just like anyone else, BUT unlike citizens and legal immigrants, they cannot file a tax return at the end of the year, thus never receiving an income tax return that they rightfully earned. Hmmm.

And what about the personal property taxes they pay every year?? Last time I checked, that money goes to our schools, roads, etc.

We own 3 vehicles and I'm buying my house. We carry insurance on all of them. Health insurance isn't offered at our jobs(he doesn't work on a farm or pick any type of fruit, veg, etc.) so we pay for every doctor visit out of our own pocket, which can be costly with 3 kids. We don't get any government help or benefits of any kind. My middle son had to get eye surgery about 3 years ago and since we didn't have insurance, the children's hospital automatically checked to see if we could qualify for help to pay the $7,000.00 bill. They said we made too much money to qualify for such benefits or any benefits for that matter. Then I said "So, basically, what you're telling me is that the government would help me out with this situation if I was lazy, unemployed, with 5 or 6 kids, receiving $500 a month in food stamps, trading those for drugs, living in government housing authorites rent free, along with any other of the long list of benefits i'm receiving........ BUT since we are hardworking people that ACTUALLY EARNED everything we own with NO help from anyone, which doesn't leave us with a whole lot to spare at the end of the month after all the bills are paid, the government will not help me out with this one surgery for my 3 year old son. What a slap in the face.

Now I know my boyfriend broke the law by coming over here illegally, but come on.....Americans break worse laws every day and get away with it. Maybe we should kick them out of the country too. Why do you think millions of dollars in drugs are being smuggled into the good ole USA???? Because Americans crave the stuff!!!!! Supply and Demand is all it is. Sure, the Mexicans might be bringing it here but it's only because the Americans are wanting it. Heck, most of them have never even tried the stuff. You just don't see a whole lot of drugged up Mexicans around. Saying all that, who is REALLY responsible for all the drug trafficking????

And, based on my experiences with both nationalities Mexicans are more hospitable and nicer people. I never leave a Mexican's house without eating a full meal first. I can barely get an American to even offer me a glass of tap water.

I'm just really tired of seeing all the biased uneducated, racist remarks being made against Mexicans. All you're doing is making us Amercians look worse than we already do. No wonder there are so many terrorists out to get us.

If you want to comment on such issues without making yourself(and every other American) look completely stupid, try educating yourself about it first. Look at both sides of the situation.

If you stop and think about it, illegal immigration doesn't even compare to the illegal acts Americans commit and never get punished for. It's like everyone's saying "Sorry, but all the innocent children that are being abused, molested and murdered by their AMERICAN parents and sick American pedophiles on a daily basis will just have to suffer until we handle the much more important illegal immigration issue. They have to be punished for breaking the law!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Listen to all of these opinions, maybe a few facts would be nice. 486 thousand high school students dropped out of school last year with 4.6% of those being Mexican (Institute for Education Services). The average wage of those dropouts will be less than $12,000 per year. The average wage for the illegal Mexican worker in a factory is $26,549 per year (these are folks that, for the most part, cannot speak English, have no math or science skills and many times, do not declare their income so as to get social services). So you're telling me that our half a million high school dropouts, 14% who are black, 12% who are other minorities, wouldn't work in a factory for more than double what they get now? The average illegal farm worker makes $1400 per month of undeclared income, this is seasonal so it would be comparable to the US dropout in wage. When I was young I used to work on a farm every spring, summer and fall when not attending Jr. High and High School, as did all of my friends. Guess what? Our youth can't work anymore because the illegals have taken over.

I heard on the news 2 nights ago that the farmers and building contractors along the Mexican boarder were bit*hing because they are having to hire legals, the Guard is finally stopping the influx of crimminals, and it is hurting their profits. Boo Hoo, I would like to see them deported to Mexico, then they could hire as many criminals as they wanted for just a few pesos.

Labor unions are giving 60 cent raises over a five year period, in favor of Illegal aliens...60 cents might be great south of the border, but it does not do American workers not one bit of good as the cost of living goes up and jobs are outsourced! LOL They're going to do it again?? COOL! The last time, the traffic on the freeways disappeared and it was actually a PLEASURE to drive to work!
And as far as fruit picking is concerned, there is NO reason we cannot automate that process. Someone actually designed a robotic tomato picker (or maybe it was lettuce. I forget) but it was not pursued BECAUSE they already had illegals to do the job, and changing over wouldn't be efficient. Once the changeover was complete, there would be NO need for illegals at all.

I have been saying for years that we need to do a Constitutional amendment. We the People need to demand that a amendment to the Constitution states that if your here illegal, You or a born child on our soil can not become a citizen, you can receive no health care, medical supplies, welfare, or any other item that comes free to U.S. citizens, as well as stating that Illegals have no rights under the Constitution as to legal counsel, trail to stay here, or anything that can delay them in our country, just that they will be deported ASAP, to the farthest point in their own country, also in this amendment it will punish employers for hireling with harsh fines, putting owners and CEOs in jail for years requiring them to pay the lost taxes on illegals, lost SS, lost medical collected, lost school fees for teachers, etc., just keep piling on the fees and punishment.
If there are no jobs why would an illegal come here? If there are no jobs, free things for them to steal, no gift citizenship, no schools, no medical then they would go home.
We let in some 1 million legal aliens a year that take years to apply and come, why should We the People just give criminals (illegals) citizenship or any other thing we paid for all our life?

It isn't even a scare tactic by the illegals. It makes the people in the US angry that the illegals are here and a day without them make people realize that AMERICANS would have a lot more (time, money, ease of driving, safety) if the illegals weren't here.

Actually, yes, it would. I am a legal immigrant and I am NOT willing to go out in the field and pick fruit. Why? Because I, as most legal immigrants, have a degree and a higher-quality job. Most Americans are not willing to do those jobs AT the wages offered, and if they don't work for THOSE wages, then the result will be an incredible inflation.

I doubt many people realize how many illegal people we are dependant on and are involved in our fruit and agriculture market, one day of millions of tons of lettuce and tomatoes, strawberries, etc.,( especially the things that are quickly perishable )abandoned and sitting out in the hot sun on trucks, OH Boy, the price in the markets would hit all of us pretty hard, it is going to be hard to change things now, and many, things we do not even think of are dependent on this type of labor, we are all, both sides, in a hurt and I don't think we realize it, yet. Some things to help and legalize should have been done years ago, it is going to take a miracle to get us out of this mess. Don't know, between the present war and the alien situation we need some real help and a lot of prayer, all of us, on both sides of the fence!!
