This seems to be a common complaint. I'm Christian and we are never required to do so. The ONLY door to door we get are JW's about twice a year. Is the geographical makeup that different??

I've never seen a generic christian doing that. I have seen many mormans doing that. When I lived in Boston, when I had the long hair and rocker attitude, people would often ask me on the T if I wanted the lord in my life.

It is a divine command in God's word to preach the Good News of the Kingdom which all TRUE Christians obey, as part of their worship.
Matthew 24:14 and Matthew 28 :19-20

Only Jehovah's Witnesses are seen to comply with that instruction. Whenever other denominations attempt to do a similar work they are immediately mistaken for the zealous Witnesses.

properly, as somebody who has long gone door to door before, i will assist you to recognize that we don't assume that everyone seems to be ignorant. I truly have met lots of born returned Christians at their door. yet there are some people, even in our city with its 10 church homes, who've by no ability heard the gospel before. that is why we knock on doorways - so as that if somebody hasn't heard that Jesus loves them, we can tell them. that is all! i won't have the capacity to talk for different individuals....yet for myself, if i did no longer supply a darn approximately different individuals then i would not knock on their doorways and witness. I do it by way of fact I care. So do lots of alternative believers. yet yeah, some are boastful are not they!

In my city, its the Mormons mostly. Very occasionally we get JW's. The Mormons are incredibly unbelievably pushy. They follow you down the street preaching. They knock on your door and if you try to close the door after telling them a polite "I'm not interested" they've been known to put their foot in the door to stop you. I've threatened them twice in the last year with calling the police for harassment.

But no, other Christians have other ways of harassing people about their religion. Like trying to put religious programs on regular tv. Did you know that I have 5 tv channels on antena based cable? They're unwatchable on Sundays because there's nothing on but religion from about 6 to 11 am. There's even one full channel thats devoted to nothing but religion. You call that not bothering me in my home? I disagree. Especially given that I can't afford cable right now. I'd rather watch yet another rerun of Full House than a religious program. I'd rather stick a needle in my eye.

You may not be knocking on my door, but you still find ways to disrupt my life.

Please read the story, I promise it'll make you look at people differently. I am a Christian and believe that we're not required by the church to do so, but we have a duty to spread the word.

t was late in December, 1996. A large family gathered in Los Angeles for the joyous occasion of wrapping Christmas presents. It was a big family because it was the product of two marriages. There were so many gathered that night, five of the children slept in the garage. It was a converted structure, kept warm during the cold night by an electric heater which sat by the door.

During the early hours of the morning, the heater suddenly burst into flames, blocking the doorway. In seconds the room became a blazing inferno. The frantic 911 call revealed the unspeakable terror of the moment. One of the children could be heard screaming, "I'm on fire!" The distraught father vainly rushed into the flames to try and save his beloved children. He received burns to 50% of his body. Tragically, all five of the children burned to death. They died because steel bars on the windows of the garage thwarted their escape. There was only one door, and that was stopped by the flames.

You are back in time. It's minutes before the heater burst into flames. You peer through the darkness at the peaceful sight of five sleeping youngsters. You know that at any moment the room is going to erupt into an inferno and burn the flesh of horrified children. Can you in good conscience walk away? No! You must awaken them, and warn them to run from that death trap!

The world sleeps peacefully in the darkness of ignorance. There is only one Door by which they may escape death. The steel bars of sin prevent their salvation, and at the same time call for the flames of Eternal Justice. What a fearful thing Judgment Day will be! The fires of the wrath of Almighty God will burn for eternity. The Church has been entrusted with the task of awakening them before it's too late. We cannot turn our backs and walk away in complacency. Think of how the father ran into the flames. His love knew no bounds, and our devotion to the sober task that God has given us will be in direct proportion to our love for the lost. There are only a few who run headlong into the flames to warn them to flee (Luke 10:2). Please be one of them. We really have no choice. The Apostle Paul said, "Woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!" (1 Corinthians 9:16).

Jehovah Witnesses are Christians too of course just a different version. The only knocks I get are Jehovah Witnesses but they don't really do that as often as they used to.

Actually, according to the History Channel every religion has tired and failed to her their followers to go house to house. There's no fault in that, it just takes a special kind f feeling toward God that drives people to do it. Even the Muslims have tried.

You do not have to go door to door to be pushing your religion like a drug, you know.... I am sure the ones here who answer every question, even ones unrelated to their religion with bible quotes, and calls to come to jesus, do not go from door to door. I am sure that the Baptists who founded jews for jesus did not all go door to door, but they are still throwing jesus at people..
