I have heard and read that Indonesian is one of the easiest languages in the world to learn for an adult. Does anyone have any personal experience of learning Indonesian and is it easy to master? I am pretty good at learning languages as I am doing Chinese at University and I want to learn Indonesian over the summer.

i think it would be best if an indonesian taught it to you so you can pronounce right even tho we already know what your trying to say hehe. but if you have some free time go on youtube.com and look for indonesian 101 theres a girl that has video blogs and teaches phrases n how to say it. her name is dandorf.

I'm teaching Indonesian in a university in Paris, France, and you're right that for a daily conversation, Indonesian is quiet easy to learn. This is a good thing when we learn a new language.
However, when you start reading articles in Indonesian, you'll find that it's not as easy as we thought. But still it's encouraging to learn.

It's very easy. It has much simpler sentence structure than English, the verbs don't have tenses and there are no plural forms. Also, it uses the Latin alphabet and everything is written phonetically, so you won't have to worry about complex characters like in Chinese, or complex spelling rules like in English.

Yeah, I'm a Malaysian and our language is not exactly the same but I still can understand Indonesian. It definitely is easy, to learn or to understand them without even studying it, somehow (well, maybe that's because my maid is an Indonesian and I'm starting to learn their language without intending to)
