if only that were the way it worked...you'd think that in a civilized world we would stop killing each other and actually talk things out.

Jimmy Carter tried that when Iran had the hostages. Wound up being voted out of office.
Wars are not fought for peace. They are fought because one party thinks a second party is doing something wrong. England didn't declare war on Germany because Germany was at war with everyone, they did because Germany decided to take over Poland
Afghanistan was invaded to stop a war, they were invaded to kick their a$$es cuz of 9/11 (revenge) and finally, Iraq wasn't invaded to stop a war, it was invaded because they have lots of oil, disrespected the president's father and because Dark Lords like Cheney and Rumsfeld stand to earn lots of money in the form of bonuses when they leave office from Haliburton. Because they are evil men who destroy the good men (Powell, etc) who want to serve the country

Because the conditions prior to the war or in response to the initiation of the war are intolerable for one or more reasons to the point that warfare is deemed necessary.

Also, it's very hard to talk things out with someone who either refuses to talk or who's unwillingness or inability to compromise and make the situation mutually tolerable leaves the situation in jeopardy.

Typically, the warfare continues until either the intolerable situation is resolved or one or both sides are unable to create a tolerable situation.

well all i have to do is quote Aristotle "we make war so we may live in peace" without war we cannot show our true intentions on peace. we need to fight for what we believe is right i mean hell isnt that how America became a free beautiful land that allows us to speak freely. and also "except for ending slavery, fascism, nazism, and communism WAR has never solved anything" compliments of grunt.com Marine Corps Specialty Store

Name a time when negotiating has ever worked. There are none. Evil wants to kill us. Talking to them will never stop them. Your position is ill-informed and flat out wrong.
