It may have started as a diversion from enrichment of uranium to buy more time for Iran's development of a nuclear weapon. In a further diversionary move, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad abruptly canceled his planned trip to New York to address the U.N. Security Council. The U.N. Security Council, however, voted to impose expanded sanctions on Iran and give it 60 days to stop enriching uranium.
A strike group led by the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis recently joined a similar force in the Persian Gulf led by the carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. Furthermore, the French nuclear carrier Charles de Gaulle and its task force met up with the USS John C. Stennis last Wednesday.
U.S. and British officials said a boarding party from the frigate HMS Cornwall was seized about during a routine inspection of a merchant ship inside Iraqi territorial waters near the disputed Shatt al-Arab waterway.
The seizure of two Royal Navy inflatable boats took place just outside the mouth of the Shatt al-Arab waterway, a 125-mile channel dividing Iraq from Iran. Its name means Arab Coastline in Arabic, and Iranians call it Arvandrud - Persian for Arvand River. A 1975 treaty recognized the middle of the waterway as the border.
Iranians send arms to Iraqi extremists, including sophisticated roadside bombs. This week, two commanders of an Iraqi Shiite militia told The Associated Press in Baghdad that hundreds of Iraqi Shiites had crossed into Iran for training by the elite Quds force, a branch of Iran's Revolutionary Guard thought to have trained Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon.

Hitler said the same thing about the communists... he wanted the war sooner than later. But then, Patrick Henry also wanted the war sooner than later.
I wouldn't humour the Iranian government. Remember, it is a democracy, and Iran has not invaded another country. We have them surrounded. There is no reason for war yet.
Iraq did have it's sights set on conquest (Kuwait and Saudi for example), and Afghanistan was implicated in an attack (well, Britain harbours more terrorists than the Taliban did, but that's another story).
Even Vietnam could be said to be a justified war, foreign powers like China were already involved and hostility was declared...
However, as Americans we pretend to believe in the freedom of speech (Americans are allowed to deny the holocaust) and in freedom to bare arms (if a person can have a gun, can a country not have a nuke?) A pre-emptive war against Iran would be unconstitutional.
I'm a patriotic American, but if Iran was invaded for the wrong reasons... I wouldn't support it.
Iran is a democracy with an idiotic supreme court, kinda like the USA.
No one's forcing us into action, just like I'm not forced to punch an idiot in the face after he says stupid things.

The Iranian government are the most arrogant people that I ever seen in my life. They think that they are above the international laws. They just want to have the atomic bombs to use it against Israel and to have control in the area. And they want a confrontation against the West and sounds like they want to demonstrate to their neighbors that they can do whatever they want and the West isn't going to do nothing. I believe that if they want war there is not going to be a big deployment of men, there are going to nuke them and this will be the end of the story. They are extremist and radical, that's why Saddam Hussein was an necessary evil because he was keeping a balance in that region, now the Ayatollahs and Shiites are a threat to the rest of the Arabs countries.

Yes I feel Iran wants war with West.
Been at War since Nov 1979.
We didnt see it until 9-11-01;
We cant take Iran down until we deal with Iraq & we do a 2 front War.
Israel showed Iran what it did in 1981 by blasting its nuke plants.
Same Today & even more so.
Iran feeds arms & insurgents into Iraq & into the US for Terrorisim.
See American Congress for Truth website.

Who is provoking whom? There is a lot more going on that you do not know. Beneath the soil of Iran is the reason we are threatening Iran and they are responding... but as in any discussion...if you want to know why you must look at history.
Please check out this link. It is a very good video to help you understand why Iran is being threatened.

I don't think that Iran wants war (now, anyway). I think Ahmanijad wants himself and Iran to become a "player" on the world scene and he's trying to become that player on the cheap--postulating and playing bluffs. He's overplaying, and he's going to find himself singed (or worse) around the edges.

One of our Navy Admirals said that Irans military would be gone in 2 hours after a conflict started. Might as well do it to them before they do it to us. And they will.
