I have found that if I have the money in my pocket or checking account that I will just spend it without even thinking of saving it...

hence...I feel the best path towards saving is having an automatic deduction from my paycheck, or an automatic, monthly or whatever movement of money from my checking account to a savings account...

I recommend ING or HSBC as they both have good interest rates...

if you are saving more towards retirement...I would recommend opening an IRA and set an automatic deduction going towards that.

You can save money by taking care of your needs and letting your wants wait until you can afford them.We tend to spend money on trivial things, that is a want, not a need.Try to avoid eating out so much. It is hard to get started but, can be done.
Good luck

1. Get a job
2. Pay YOURSELF first 10%
3. Get a savings account or a CD to stack up money over the years(you get it at the bank, not walmart)

When you get money, open an account in the bank and put all your money in it. If you only have about a dollar, put it in a secret place and try not to think about it since you might be tempted to use it but always remember where you put it. Putting it in a bank can give you interest and it is convenient.

The best way to save money is to define what your needs are and what your wants are.

When you remember:

You are not what you earn, You are what you have saved when you look back on the years of earning.

A man will be judged by what he is but not what he was.
