There are two ABS lights that come on to serve as warnings that your system might not work as far as the anti-lock part of the brakes. The red one means to service immediately as something has been detected wrong that is integral to safety. The orange or yellow one is to let you know that there is a problem detected with the electronic module, sensors, and/or wiring. At times these lights also come on when your battery and/or alternator cannot provide the needed power when the system is powered up on start up. What to do you ask?? I can't diagnose this without being told of the codes that the ABS module has stored. For any condition that turns on the warning lights, code(s) will be stored. You have to get these scanned and written down as these are the clues as to what is wrong or which circuit has been detected faulty. The biggest fault we used to see is a poorly performing battery, an alternator that is not putting out enough, or sensor wiring to the front wheels. I know that sounds stupid as far as the battery and alternator thing, but these systems are designed to do a self-test on power up, immediately after the motor starts. This draws a lot of power from the battery and charging system so if they are both not up to snuff, the system tests this as well. You need to get the codes out of the module first and go from there. If you are having starting and/or charging system problems, fix those first and see what happens as those were far and away the biggest problems. Good luck.

This means your anti-lock brakes will not work because of some problem that the car has detected. As far as I am concerned, the car is perfectly OK to drive, but some may disagree, saying that if you are in a near accident situation, you may very well "skid" into the crash! Well, there are a lot of cars not equipped with ABS out there driving around. Go figure! You can have it checked out, but it may prove expensive. On another note, it sometimes goes away by itself, or only sometimes come on. If you want to test your ABS (and it is safe to do so), go into an empty lot, pick up a little speed, and slam on the brakes, if your tires squeal, and your car skids, they are not working.

could be a bad wheel speed sensor or a bad abs pump, need to see what codes it has. those pumps are pretty expensive depends on how much you value anti lock brakes
