Has anyone done this? We are considering it. How long does it take to go through the process with one of the fund-raising publishers? Any advise before we begin? Thanks!

We are at the end of this process now after having collected 232 recipes. Another distant family relative will be doing the same thing as we are so I am developing a booklet to tell how. The process was fairly straight-foward and easy since we used a fixed format and emails for the recipes and I cut-and-pasted the entries myself into our database "Now You're Cooking." We already have 55 copies reserved for orders with only 1/20th of the contributors heard from so we are expecting a print run of 200-300 copies in the $4-$6 USD cost range. Our website which we use to post the recipes for review is here: http://huebl.info/ (shows fewer recipes as I haven't updated since getting additional recipes today) and anything I can do to help, just ask! My email address: whuebl@hotmail.com

Be wary of self-publishing companies.
They majority of them will con you without your even realizing it's being done.
You're better off with a POD (print-on-demand) publisher and I know only one of those who are a genuine publishing company, Fort Orange Press in Albany, N.Y.
I've been published twice by Macmillan and I'm familiar with the publishing process.
With POD you need to come up with the initial costs of formatting and setting your book up for POD.
Then, you're only charged for the books that are ordered and sent to purchasers.
Check out EBay, they have at least one POD company that they work with.
But, your cook book needs to be really unique to be able to make a go in the glutted marketplace.
There's a slew of them out there.

While I don't know how long it takes, go to www.morriscookbooks.com. They do my bank cookbooks for fundraisers. 1-800-445-6621 ext CB.

It's very nicely spiral bound with a hard cover, and for selling purposes it was only $10. If that gives you any idea of what it may cost. And the guide to putting one together is free.

I think someone did it. Also try to be specific and put only good recipes. Good Luck!
