Video To DVD?

Question

What program is good for copying Video from my Computer hard drive to a DVD that can be played on a DVD player? and how do I go about doing this. can I download a trial program that will do it? any help would be apprieciated, Thanks.

Good program - Nero. To make a video playable on an external DVD player it must be in DVD format. You can't just burn wmv files or mpg files to a DVD and play them other than on your computer, they must be re-encoded and NERO Vision can do this for you.

The resultant video will only be as good as the original so small size files will not get any better - possibly worse.

You would need to learn how to use Nero Vision as its far too complex to discuss here.

Suffice to say in brief you open Nero Vision (if you have Nero) and then import the files you want to turn into a DVD then select make DVD and it will convert them to DVD mpg files (different to normal mpg) and then burn to disc. The conversion process can take quite a while so don't expect to churn out a DVD in 5 mins. You can mix NTSC and PAL video but you have to decide which one you want the DVD to be and it will convert it. 1 to 4 hours is normal (depending on CPU speed and HD speed) to create the files for the DVD and then 20 mins to an hour to burn the disc. Slower speed is better for burning as less chance of buffer underrun which will kill your disc and you have to do it all over again.
