It can affect you big time! I used to have this job that I really loved but our issue area was domestic violence and child abuse. I was okay the first year but eventually, talking about this problem all the time and hearing the awful, awful client stories took its toll. I had a huge depressive episode and within just two years, was hospitalized and re-diagnosed with major depression. It wasn't all work related but it played a big role in my vicarious trauma which triggered my own trauma history.
I'm looking for work right now and I tell you, I am avoiding stressful jobs like the plague, even though I'll probably only make half of what I did before. My mental and physical health is far too important. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF FIRST and worry about your job later.

It can really alter your health. I have a very stressful job and sometimes I feel so overwhelmed that I have to stop and take a day off to regroup. I often have work related drems that are very disturbing.

It can destroy your health completely if you don't watch it, it starts with stress, then goes into anxiety , depression and if not treated , you can end up in psychiatric institution .
keep it under control if you can or get away .
Speaking from my own experience ,
