My 6 yr old Golden had her usual period a month ago. Yesterday, she began to menstruate again; but, this time, the blood is a deep purple and with lots of clotting. Should I be worried? She is eating and drinking - just a little lethargic.

PT take her to the vets now. This is not normal after a heat. She very well can have a very bad infection going on.
It is better to have you vet check things out than have her so sick that she will die.

Anytime your dog is lethargic, call the vet. You should also consider getting her spayed.

Yes, take her to the vet. Make sure nothing is wrong with her. You still might have to have her spayed if something is wrong.
