Crap is short for (Thomas) Crapper, the designer of the modern toilet.

It has become a vulgar term but not necessarily a cuss word.

If you're talking about playing dice it's proper. If you're refering to waste matter it would depend on your definition of "cuss". Some people define a curse as taking the name of God in vein. Using that definition it would not be a 'cuss' word. But it definately is a vulgarity.

I think it could be classified as a Christian cuss word which is in reality is a misnomer.
Even a dictionary will tell you it is slang and crude.

Eph 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

It is a replacement for the "s" word, which IS a cuss word. So crap isn't a cuss word. But my mother thinks it is. Why? She is 83 and is easily shocked.

There aren't any cuss words. We just decided as a society at some point that words were "forbidden" to use because somehow they were bad. Words are only bad when you make them seem forbidden and horrible to use. I find them as a means to make my conversations more colorful. Of course there are different words to use. Instead of "Oh s.hit" you can sell, "Monkeytrumpets!!!!" but it just doesn't have quite the same effect, lol.

Crap is a euphemism for shi*, where I live it's hypocritical not to just say what you mean. Using poor language ususally happens when one is out of control in an angry outbursts. Others that use inflammatory language simply have not learned a substantial word base.

It's certainly not a very nice word, but I don't think it's necessarily a cuss word.

Yes, it is a cuss word. I went to look it up. and it is a vulgar word. And I went to look up vulgar just incase someone here doesn't know what vulgar means:
'Vulgar means obscene'
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Vulgar

And
Obscene means Offensive
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/obscene

So if you look up the cuss words and really dig in you will find that they are cuss words, Even the most simple words that we don't think are.
