My 4 yr old, loves the Power Rangers. He thinks he is a Ranger! Every once and a while, he acts out the show on his 1 1/2 yr old brother. Slides into, Pushes, Touche,..etc.. The little one laughs most of the time or runs and thinks its a joke. He is going on 5 soon, and everyone I know his age knows who they are, have clothing of them, games, action figures etc...
Parents, whats your experience with the Power Rangers and children this age 4 plus?

my 3 year old LOVES the power rangers. He thinks he's the white one.....

he goes to a day care/preschool so there is pushing and acting out anyway, but I feel your concern for what they are watching.

It's not unusual for boys, and some girls, to act like that. It is only play; if you ever see real aggression then you should reevaluate. The only thing I do NOT tolerate is pushing younger kids and being rough with little girls (we're trying to teach some gender roles), If I EVER see a closed fist he gets a time out, there is no biting or kicking either.

I have a boy who's 2 and he is in the age that he likes Elmo, Mickey, Diego, Barney, Spider & Superman but also power rangers even McQueen car, he doesn't have a favorite yet he like all, and as a boy he like to play though so as my nepwee he is almos 3 and he is the same but he is more like a fan of the power rangers, but of course if they saw a shirt or anything from power rangers they want it, in fact my nepwee is going to have his birth day party of power rangers theme....I remember my baby sister back in 1995 or so she was a big fan of the power rangers of that time, just like today most girls and boys are fans of the power rangers and they one to be one of them, so I think it is good for them to have a favorite character in mind is part of being a kid!!! keep having fun with power rangers because as soon another new character comes he migth change his mind ..maybe like the Ninja Turtles they are back again !!!

I used to tell the four year old that I sat for that he was allowed to act out the Power Rangers by kicking in the air, hitting his punching bag, ect, but that if he hit his sisters the television would go off. That seemed to fix the problem. We also had to have a long talk about reality versus special effects/stuntmen when he was a bit older.

My 4-year-old and his best friend (next door neighbor) are both huge fans. They run around in the back yard, defending the swingset from invaders. They ride their scooters around the driveway yelling, "Hyah!" It's good exercise, and it's imaginative. They'll watch 15 minutes of an episode, then spend 45 minutes tearing around outside.

Now, they don't push other kids. As long as your guy knows it's just pretend, and that they don't actually hurt each other, even in the shows, and he knows to be gentle with his little bro, I'd recommend finding a playmate of a similar age that he can go play pretend with.

My son (4 next month) thinks he is the white ranger. He tries his moves on his older sister (7) and his younger brother (11months-not to rough) and they think its the funniest thing ever. My two boys will be having their birthday party next month (born on the same day) and their party theme of course is going to be power rangers. I think its okay for him to love the power rangers as long as he isn't to rough with people.
