I looked into this once. Oddly enough, the answer is no. The freshness will be affected and they will eventually dry up. Before refrigeration and modern poultry farms, extra eggs laid during the summer would be saved for use through the winter (when the hens wouldn't lay) by setting them down in a crock filled with a water glass (sodium silicate) solution. This would be kept in the basement--cool, but hardly refrigerated. The only exception to this is if the shell is cracked, and then it should be used promptly.

Yes. Though the refrigerator is the best place to keep them, if it is past the expiration date on the eggs, they are bad and you should not eat them.
On a side note I've heard that eggs not purchased from a store contain a protective coating (from the mother) that is washed off with processing. If these are fresh eggs that have not been washed, I've heard they can last for about a month, even without refrigeration, however, I would do more research on your own before eating month old eggs.

Eventually, yes. But don't let the date fool you. Even eggs that are 4 to 6 weeks past the date on the carton can be used for boiled eggs.

Yes. There is any easy way to check if your eggs have gone bad without ever having to crack open the shell. Simply fill a tall glass about 3/4 full of water and gently drop the egg in. If the egg stays at the bottom, it's still good to use. If it floats, throw it out.

You didn't provide a whole lot of information, such as how old the eggs are.
ANYTHING can spoil, even in the fridge, if it's left for a long period of time. If your eggs are a month (or less) old, and they've been in the fridge the entire time, and they're still in their original package, and they've never been exposed to moisture or strong odors (like stored next to onions), they should be fine.
If you intend to use the eggs, crack each egg--one at a time--into a small bowl BEFORE you add it to a recipe. If the egg looks OK in the bowl, and has no smell, then it's fine to use. If it's spoiled, trust me, you'll know right away.

Refrigeration doesn't stop the decay process, it just slows it down. Things that will rot out on your porch will rot in the fridge, just slower.

yes yes they can...theres a date on the carton....eggs generally will last a week or two after that date if refridgerated....but when an egg goes bad you will know it the second you crack it...it has a strong odor!...hope this helps...Rosie
