I have looked into programs here in Boston and I am wondering what process people go through to become pharmacists; do you go to school for a Master's in Science in Pharmacology? I mainly am interested in being a pharmacist in a pharmacy, not necessarily research or anything like that...are there other avenues to becoming a pharmacist, like being a pharm tech first? Help!

Working as a pharmacy technician ($8-13 dollars an hour) can give you insight into the role of a pharmacist, but it doesn't help you along the road to becomming a pharmacist. Asking to job shadow a few pharmacists would be effective also. You would need to complete pre-pharmacy prerequisites for the pharmacy school you are interested in, take the PCATs, and apply to schools. Each pharmacy school will have different prerequisites. Think 2 semesters Basic Chem, 2 semesters Organic, Math (maybe Calculus), 2 semesters Basic Bio, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, medical terminology, etc. There were several people in my pharmacy class doing this as a second career. One was a gal that had taught high school english for a few years and figured out she hated it. Another guy in his 50s had put his kids through college, retired from the railroad, and went to pharmacy school. He took 7 years to get through it instead of 5 like the rest of us, but he did it!

hey..i myself aspire 2 b a pharmacist so i kno a lot bout it..
to b a licensed pharmacist(one tht works @ a neighborhood pharmacy), you need a PharmD....most universities that offer PharmD require a bachelore's degree(could b in n e field as long as the prerequisite classes 4 the pharmacy program r taken)...u shuld apply to as many pharmacy colleges as possible after takin the PCAT(required 4 most colleges)..n after u have most of the prerequisites met...its tough getting accepted to a lot of pharmacy schools but if you have a bachelore's to back you up n good PCAT scores/very good grades in prerequisite couses..ur fine..n frm there ur on ur way 2 b a pharmacist!
GOOD LUCK!

Please don't listen to the Fundies. They're full of it. I can tell you from experience that Wicca is a VERY peaceful religion. It's all about being one with the Earth and the energies that flow through it. It's about honoring the Horned God (THIS IS NOT SATAN, I need to stress that very much) and Goddess. WE DO NOT WORSHIP SATAN. OMG. I would never even think about worshiping something evil. Do what feels right to you. I highly recommend Wicca, though. And yes, I agree that it's much easier to feel one with Wicca than with Christianity. Christianity judges people all the time and is ALWAYS telling you that you are wrong no matter what you do. Wicca is far more accepting and tolerant of people. The God and Goddess love you no matter what, and that's the way it should be when it comes to a diety. Don't worry about what the others say. And no, I know a whole bunch of level headed people who are Wiccans, including myself (I'm in Medical School training to be a doctor, so yes I'm level-headed). Wicca is NOT a religion for rebellious people as someone else said. Praise the God and Goddess! Blessed be! Good luck with whatever you choose to do! )O(

since pharmacy covers all the drugs, medicines and solutions, you really have to have a degree. you have to study
pharmacology which will be your second course apart from
english literature. it will take a while but if being a pharmacist
is your passion, go for it.
