No you wont need a new hardrive if that is all you did.
try booting from your windows install cd then go to format your hardrive. there it will ask you if you want to format and stuff and creating partitions. you want to format the whole drive in NTFS and put 100% in the primary/master active partition size then reinstall windows

Uh oh........
I think you deleted your primary partition which has your OS on it. Try restarting your computer in SAFE MODE (hold down F8). If it starts then you can use RESTORE to fix it. If it won't start then you will have to reinstall XP which will re-partition and format it for you.

What were you doing? Why? Don't screw with partitions unless you know what you are doing and NEVER with your Primary Partition.

You don't have to buy a new hard drive, but you will have to reinstall Windows, and this time, don't "accidentally" delete a partition. If your drive is larger than 20Gb , don't partition it at all.

Just install XP again and this time do delete all your partitions to make one unpartitioned drive and install XP to it (If you want no partitions)..

Good luck,
