Find out who they are and speak with their parents. If they continue either find an equally annoying yet harmless prank to get them back or call the police.
Though i personally advocate the chopping off of hands...since they're kids maybe you would want to start with just fingers...

There are two little brats on my block that do the same thing to me. I just call their Moms on the phone and tell them. I've caught them in the act a couple of times. Cutting off the hands is a little drastic. But that's what me and my husband feel like doing sometimes.

Here's an idea that's not as drastic as cutting off hands but should be just as effective. Re-wire the doorbell so that when they touch it they get zapped!

Chain a big scary dog to your front porch with a sign that says "This is fluffy. He likes to make friends" And then have the dog run at them barking at the little brats.

Put something really gross on your doorbell, or your doormat where they'll be standing that will come off on them! OR you could put some Manure into your flower beds by the door because it'll smell like sh@@ .....if you R REALLY industrious, think REMOTE CONTROL.........lol

hahaha i used to do that...you know whenever you think they are going to ring the bell you go put of the house and wait on the side when they come you get out catch them and grab them by the ear... take them to their parents explain the situation to their parents ...and your problem is solved
