I'm terribly pale and would like to get a little color for the summer. However, I just got my first tattoo (it's all black) on my lower back and it's fairly large. I know baking in the sun is the worst thing I could do for my tattoo, and after going through all that pain, I want to keep it looking the best as possible. So would using a spray on or rub on tanning lotion fade the color as well? I'd just go around the tattoo, but the design of it would make it impossible!
Thanks!

no, there is no harm as long as the tattoo is healed. i use a fake tanner but i do avoid my tattoos because they are bright in color and it will "darken" them temporarily just like it will darken your skin.

good for you for being a responsible tattoo owner and trying to keep it fresh and beautiful!!!

It's just on the surface, much safer for your ink than actual sun. If it's all black, why would it be a problem if it colors over the tattoo? =0)

no, self tanners will not hurt your tattoo. tanning beds and tanning in the sun will fade your tattoos by the change in skin pigment.

The sun bleaches everything. The paint on tan, is just that paint that goes on top of the skin. The tatoo is under the skin. Your safe in that regard.

I say do not get a tan because that is just as bad as lying in the sun all day.
