in computers reference
A destructive program that masquerades as a benign application. Unlike viruses, Trojan horses do not replicate themselves but they can be just as destructive. One of the most insidious types of Trojan horse is a program that claims to rid your computer of viruses but instead introduces viruses onto your computer.
in history reference
The term comes from the a Greek story of the Trojan War, in which the Greeks give a giant wooden horse to their foes, the Trojans, ostensibly as a peace offering. But after the Trojans drag the horse inside their city walls, Greek soldiers sneak out of the horse's hollow belly and open the city gates, allowing their compatriots to pour in and capture Troy.

Recall your History? The Trojan Horse rolled up to the gates of Troy.... When the Greeks had lain siege to Troy for ten years, without results, they pretended to retreat. They left behind a huge wooden horse, in which a number of Greek heroes, among whom Odysseus, had hidden themselves. The spy Sinon convinced the Trojans, despite the warnings of Laocoon, to move the horse inside the city as a war trophy. In the following night, the Greeks left the wooden horse and attacked the unsuspecting and celebrating Trojans, and finally conquered Troy.
In computer parlance a "Trojan" does exactly the same. It is a malicious program like a virus that can contracted when downloading programs from share sites like Warez and Crackz. The program is only small and is often found inside zip archives. It is generally used to download other malicious software or spyware to either stuff up your computer or extract information such as if you use Internet Banking, it can gather all your account details and passwords and send them to someone on the other side of the world who can then empty your bank account. Any good anti-virus and anti-spyware program should detect them. Best idea is to have your A/V scan every file you download before you open it.
One of the most prevalant sources of Trojans is cracked games and programs.

A Trojan Horse is simply a malicious computer program that damages your computer system upon installation. The program claims to do one thing, such as pretending to be a game, but instead do something else when you run them. Some nasty Trojans will actually attempt to erase your hard drive. They were originally named after the historic Trojan horse used by the Greeks to conquer Troy because the first Trojan horse programs pretended to be innocent games or applications. Trojan horses have no way to replicate themselves automatically. Below you will find some of the various ways that viral related attacks can be transmitted and spread.

Hello aaaaa....
A trojan in a sense is a malicious element to a computers system, much in the same way that a virus can harm a computer system.
A trojan by full understanding is an application, often a download that is pretending to be something else.
For example there may be an advert to download the new msn instant messenger, you click the download button, the application that downloads is in fact a Trojan that will harm your system.
I hope this helps.

the Trojan Horse acts as a means of entering the victim’s computer undetected and then allowing a remote user unrestricted access to any data stored on the user's hard disk drive whenever he or she goes online. In this way, the user gets burned and like the unfortunate citizens of Troy, may only discover that fact when it is too late.

Trojan Horses are malicious programs that run invisibly on your system. Trojan horses can enable a remote attacker to transfer files to and from your computer, delete your files, and view your sensitive information.

It is a type of malware program that sits on your machine waiting for a specific event to take place, such as a given date. Then it wakes up and attacks whatever the writer has programmed for it to attack.
