Are they too much for puppies 10 weeks of age? Its probably gonna have to be shock collars or find another home for them because they're going out into the street. :(

They keep running into the neighbors yard and he was shooting yesterday. I'm not sure if he may shoot them. Also, they keep getting closer and closer to the street. I'm definitely a pet lover, and I really don't wanna have to use the shock collars. I don't want them to get hurt, either.

I have a now 9 year old Boxer. I taught her to stay in the yard by walking her around the perimeter of the yard on a leash & having someone stand across the road (or where ever) & call her. Everytime she tried to go to the other person, I would give a little jerk on the leash & say "NO" in a firm voice. When she stayed on her own, I praised her. Doesn't matter who or what it is, to this day, she will not leave the yard. One day she was chasing a squirrel, the squirrel ran out into the street, she stopped, sat down & watched it! I was thrilled! I have done this with all my dogs & it has always worked & starting them as puppies makes it that much easier. It will be a while before they can be trusted to stay in the yard, but it will work if you are more persistant than they are. It is definately worth the work in the long run. Patience & persistance is key! If you move to a new home, do it all again until they get the hang of where their new boundries are.

Heard of chains? Heard of fence's? Sounds like you need to find him another home with a fenced yard. Puppies need to run, play and have fun. Shock collars are for barking and that is cruel for a 11 week old pup pie to have one on. Please think of the pup pie and find it another home. You say you are a pet lover and that will show him you love him. As far as your neighbor goes, I would be on the phone immediately to the police about him having a gun and shooting it. What about other pets he is doing it to or even kids. Also what about his shots. He probably hasn't had all 3. Just a suggestion you might call a local Pet and Rescue company in your area to see if they can help place him/them in appropriate homes.

First of all ... why are they going in the street. If you're a responsible pet owner you'd make sure they are kept either inside or in a fenced area. There are too many animals that roam the streets and end up either dead or in shelters and pounds (and most of them don't believe in no-kill, so they end up in gas chambers to suffocate to death). And a shock collar won't do the trick (only for barking), if you're not going to keep them inside or in a fenced area you need to install an electric fence. Its much cheaper to fence them or build them a good size pen (or as some people call it ... a dog lot).

YES, they are too much for puppies that young. Don't even consider it.
Try a leash and the word no. You need to train them how to behave and where they can and cannot go. Another option would be to put up a fence. There are temporary ones available at some pet and farm stores.
Many big pet stores have obedience classes that will teach you how to train you dogs. It is inexpensive and lasts for one hour a day, one day/evening a week, and for 6-8 weeks.

way too young. I personally would never use a shock collar on an animal, but everyone's different. Keep puppy inside and learn how to train it. Make sure to keep a close eye out though to keep them in the yard and out of street.

How old are you? Your parents should be taking more responsibility for these puppies. You don't know what your doing, thats way to young for a shock collar. Keep them inside, invest in a good fence, or find them good homes asap!

This has to be a joke here. You want to put a shock collar on 10 week old puppies because you are to lazy to put them on a leash to walk them. Yes, I think you should find them a new home. I can't believe that you are really thinking this way. Just make sure they have a good home, someone that will take care of them proper. By what you say here I really don't think you would care one way or another.. Shame you have these 10 week old puppies.

I would think that 10 weeks is too young. There are underground fences that can keep a dog in a certain area and there are also dog runs that allow your dog to play outside, but still keep them in the yard. You can always use a leash for potty and take your dog to a dog park to get exercise.

@ just 10 weeks of age your puppy's haven't even developed "fear memory" yet. It will be another 4.5 months before they develop the cognitive skills necessary to fully understand a correction such as an e-collar correction.
Also at just ten weeks they may or may not be immune to diseases that live naturally in the soil (like Parvo). So you are placing them at risk by allowing them to rome free at that age.
I would STRONGLY suggest that you make a secure aria for the puppy's to play in.

WAY too much for 10 weeks of age. They don't recommend a shock collar on a dog under 6 months of
age. I personally wouldn't put one on a dog under a year of age.
A dog run or fence is a far better idea for such young dogs... Can't keep them in the house?
