I had a catherter during my long labour due to the epidural and ever since, i get a really bad pain AFTER i stop peeing. Been on 4 courses of antibiotics after docs thought it was a urine infection. Tests came back saying negative to any infection, but says there was blood in my urine. Have follow up appointment next week. Anyone had the same so i can be prepared? Any other mothers experienced this after a cathereter?

Ask you doctor to evaluate you for the possibility of a kidney stone. Also, sometime the urethra needs to be dilated after a cath removal; especially in women. Consult you doctor.

Sounds like bladder spasms to me. I get them when I drink apple juice, but they can be caused by a catheter as well. (the Dr.'s ran tests on me as well that came back negative for infection) there are medications that can relieve the spasms, but if you are nursing your new baby you may not be able to take them. Ask your Dr. about bladder spasms and what they have that might help. Hope they stop soon cause they are really painful.

Oh bless you... that must be soooo painful. Nope i had a catheter and had no problem. Maybe they have injured you in some way up there and because there is never any rest from peeing you havent had a chance to fix properly.
Hope you find the answer and you can be pain free soon!

you will have been battered about down there! May be just a simple time problem......if there are no signs of infection I would leave well enough alone so your body can heal. They must have been pretty rough with you also by the sound of it.

If you can ask to se a Urologist.
