I hear them every morning chirping and scratching.I think they have a nest in there. This is a large window unit.I'm afraid if I turn it on that the fan will cut them up.It's too big to take out of the window and would cost me money to pay someone to do that, can,t afford it.Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

I have the same problem with my fire place and I was told by the cleaner if I remove them they might stave to death and so on so he told me my only other option is to deal with it until they leave and it's going to be a while... then after they leave seal the space up and no more problem

You will have to wait until they are done nesting. Sounds like there are babies in there, so it should not be long before they leave the nest. Most birds fledge after a couple weeks (depending on species). If you live in the US, it is illegal to disturb, move, or destroy a nest of any native bird species. Once they are out, you might want to put some kind of screen over it to keep birds out in the future so you will be able to run your air all summer.

At this point you're better off sitting and waiting it out. The good news is that it'll be anywhere from 2 to three weeks. More than likely it's a small species so your wait is about a month, tops. That includes incubation, hatching and weaning. If you can hire someone to professionally remove them, best to do it asap as if you do it later the parents will abandon the babies and the chicks will die.

Could be worse. You could have a macaw in there. Takes them about 4 months to leave the nest..and they're loud ^.^

Call the ASPCA or some other humane control that won't just kill the birds once they take them out.
