After I installed my system I hear a noise coming from my sub. It sounds like a truck sitting at a stop light that has an exhaust on it. Any one know what that is???

the noise filter is hooked at the power line that comes from the battery, then the filter has an output that is conected to your system. and one wire to ground. The link above display a good and cheap filter and wiring diagrams.

you need 6mm or better plug wires this will help with noise in sound system and gas mileage. Make sure that everything is grounded to a bare metal ground, the noise filter should be in the power line to the stereo this will reduce noise in all speakers not just your subs, if you still have a whistling noise replace cap and rotor and use a larger ground wire

I would check my grounds if I were you. Make sure you didn't ground it to the paint, scrape away any paint on your ground and reground it. I wanna say to install the noise filters on the speaker wires going to the subwoofer, but right now, the validity of that answer escapes me. It may also be an amplifier problem, make sure everything is wired up correctly. If you wired it yourself, make sure you RCA's and power cord are on oppisite sides of the vehicle, or your power cord could be causing feedback through the RCA's. Sorry I can't be more helpful, all this stuff has decided to leave my brain at the moment.

Do the Big3 Upgrade [power(charge) wire from alternator to battery, ground from batt. to frame, and ground from frame to engine block] in 4g or bigger wire. Also ground your CD player better (make your own secure ground). Do these 2 things and disregard what anyone else told you, and your noises will be a thing of the past. All you'll heard is clear, refreshing music!
