Eat eat eat! I am a powerlifter and its a matter of eating. If you want to get bigger/stronger you must eat. In order to stay in an anabolic (muscle building) state, you must keep protein intake high (1-1/2 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight per day spread out over 6-7 meals) and maintain a high calorie diet. Preferrably 500-1000 calories above maintenace. So if you need 2600 calories a day to maintain your bodyweight, try taking in the proper amount of protein and consume 3100-3600 claories a day. Remember, 3500 calories = 1 pound. SO if you want to gain 10 pounds, you need to eat 35,000 calories ABOVE what you need over the course of a few weeks. You will gain some fat, you can't gain muscle and burn fat at the same time. Let the fat come, you can burn it off when you go to cut in a few months. Just make sure you are doing heavy resistance training to make sure most of the weight goes to muscle gains. Gluck!

To gain weight you have to eat more calories than you burn. When adding calories, try to stay away from adding too much fat. While you can get fat from eating carbohydrates or protein, your body likes to use carbohydrates as fuel more than fat. To gain muscle, in addition to eating more you have to stimulate your muscles enough through resistance training that while they recover, they'll get bigger and stronger. To get an efficient workout you might want to join a gym if you aren't already a member.
